ignition idea

Anyone have any thoughts on using a fireball or screamin' demon coil with a MSD 6A box with platinium +4 plugs gapped at 0.065-0.07 on my 93 5.0 GT? (excuse that run on sentence) I was thinking that that would be much better than cramming a super high voltage coil on there since its amperage that does the work of igniting the fuel anyways. Any experience with a setup like this? or would it run to "hot". I have also considered running 2 coils in parallel for even more amps. I wanna take full advantage the denser mixture after adding a procharger and rebuiling my engine for boost.

Any advice about which plug wires or if i need a new distributor would be greatly appreciated. What plugs other than the +4's would you recommend? Any thoughts at all.

Re: ignition idea

Crazy, Just some random thoughts/questions for you to help with your decisions. 1) Any good performance coil will do the job, as long as it's compatible with your ignition box. 2) IMO that is way too much gap. You're adding boost and making it more difficult to fire. Check with others with blowers and see what they gap at. You may want to check the heat range of the +4's for your application, and you are aware that they are not adjustable for gap, right? (Pre-set and not recommended to be moved) 3)Correction: the secondary ignition is voltage intensive, not amperage. The voltage does the work, the amps are very low. 4) One coil is plenty. 5) A good set of wires is important, but don't go overboard. You're only goal is to send one good spark to each cylinder at the proper time (even MSD units are down to one spark in your power range). If your distributor is worn to the point that it varies the timing, replace it. If not, run it, but keep it tuned up. Good luck with your project.

what i was thinking was that the higher amp power arc would be better than the skinny purple high voltage one. however i may consider a dyno ignition for the extra punch. thanks about the info on the +4's i had no idea they werent adjustible. since i am going to spend this kind of money on an engine i decided to go the path of using a big block. dont know which size yet, but im going to build it up piece by piece.

thanks!
