Bad Spinout.....Tires Covered?

Hi everyone, here is what happened.

I spun out doing about 100 mph on a side road. My driver-front tire has developed a BAD flat spot. Are tires covered under my warranty? I really doubt it, but I figured I would ask.

Also, I am detected a wierd smell coming from under the hood. Kinda smells like somthing was burned (other than rubber). Any ideas?

Overall, other then the tire, what else could have been damaged? I did put the clutch in as this was happening, so I think that is OK. The car is still very under warranty (5700 miles) so when I go to the dealer I would like to tell him what to check.

Thanks everyone for your input.

William

P.S. I know I'm a dumb a** so you don't need to tell me.

Tires and other 'comsumables' wont be covered under warranty unless it's a manufacturing fault but flat spotting a tire isn't one. Not surpirsed you did flat spot a tire doing that though! I spose it put the fear of god in you! New Shorts? did you put the clutch in all the way, did you try then to pull of leaving it in 5th? have you checked your motor for any spills that may have occured when you took you little 'detour'? It may be a fluid burning, have you seen any smoke? Unless of cousre you were doing 100 in 3rd ( I hope not) and then you could have mooshed you motor! BTW i wouldn't tell you dealer how you did it!

Re: Bad Spinout.....Tires Covered?

yeah dont take it to the dealership, you tell them you were spinning out cause you were doing 100MPH on a back road they will void your warranty for racing, and yes they can do that.

Thanks

Thanks guys for the input.

To answer some questions, the clutch was in all the way. Once I stopped, I put it in first and off I went. Since it was dark I was not able to check for anything on the ground in terms of fluid. When I go out again I will check the ground where I parked.

As for the tire, I will take the car to a Goodyear dealer in town. My father thinks a belt may have slipped off and maybe I can convince them that it is covered under warranty. Personally I don't think it will work, because they will see the flat spot and put 2 and 2 together.

Oh well.

And yes, the fear of God was in me. What was ironic is the fact that I was just telling a friend that I had feelings of invincibility right before it happened. Hey I am 19, kinda entitles me to it. Changed my view needless to say.

Oh, when I take it to the dealer, I will take it there with a new tire on it then say I smell something wierd. They should have no clue. I'll make them check the whole car out.

Thanks again for all your input,
William

... and you wonder why i don't tell people how to do the govener mod... people like this are the prime example. You are lucky to be alive after spinning out doing 100 in a cav. You need the proper stance before you can show the balls in its pants.

Ya seriously -- god only knows what could of happend if he had that mod done.... i remember the disputes u had all the time about people askin how to remove a gov. an such... if u dont know how to do it without askin someone - then u sure as hell shouldnt be driving a car with it done to it ... but you really shouldnt be driving like that anyway -lol ....

to the kid who spun out..
Did u slide over anything like edge of the road to grass or ect... ? if so u could of bent a few different things goin to the hub makin the brake hang up an u could be smellin it burning because of unecessary compression of the piston....

an like they said i would agree dont go blabbin to the dealer they will look at u an say - u will get a notice in the mail - then they will just say bye an walk away... an the notice isnt cause u won $1,000 sweepstakes is the cancelation of ur warranty...
ya just put a new rubber on it an take it there an play the stupid ablivious game like u have no idea what is goin on it just smells tell them...
lol

good luck man

Re: Bad Spinout.....Tires Covered?

Yeah, I hear you guys. I will watch how I talk to the dealer. So "93_R/T_TT_Stealth" you think it is the brakes? I have been having trouble with them already so now they will get fixed. They already made a strange sound when I pushed the pedal. Probably the pad.

And in response to all this crap about governors and what-not. I do not intend to remove it and if I did it is my choice. Probably will turbo it when the warranty goes. No one else was in danger except me. If I want to kill myself, it is my business. I am not a kid. Just stay off the roads if you are so afraid of dying. I don't mean to be a jerk, but I really don't need to hear it.

So if say you spun out and hit a young mother with her 2 month old babay in pram and two year old child in hand and they died it would be there fault for getting inyour way? If that's the way you really feel I suggest youy leave this Forum before you get some crazy hate PMs or some shit! You don't own the road. It sounds like you had your friend in the car so you wouldn't have been the only one at risk! Just the fact that this happened means you were driving beyond your limits or experience and ability otherwise this thread would not exist. Wise up!

Re: Bad Spinout.....Tires Covered?

1. It was 10:30 at night in the country. If any woman was with her baby at that time of night she was neglectful.

2. I know I do not own the road. It did make me wise up, but I will still drive fast. I will be in more control more.

3. Classicrocjunkie funny picture.

Look guys I don't want to get into an argument. Everyone does stupid crap. The tire is fixed case CLOSED. If you have nothing constructive to say, do not even bother posting.

Time is also not a factor.Anybody or anything could have been there at that time.Just try and think ahead,if you did ever do something that caused harm to somebody you will have to live with that the rest of your life, maybe behind bars.
