Apparently one of my spark plugs is ARC-ing and melting away the wire....has anyone heard of this happening? My Check Engine light was on because of this..........now it's costing me $160...shouldnt this be covered by warranty?

Re: Check Engine Light

did you put all of the sensors back into it?

like say, the intake air temp. sensor? if you took things out, they do have to go back in ya know.

Re: Check Engine Light

no it was the mass air flow sensor... and since the elantras have the same engine as the 4 cyl tibs... dont you think that the sensor would be the same?

Re: Check Engine Light

as long as you get the same beta II maf sensor you will be fine, but dont get it. i have a checklist for you:

-make sure the MAF sensor was put on the correct way. the arrow should be pointing towards the throttle body.
-make sure the Intake AIR Temp sensor is in SNUGLY. you should have used the grommet that was in the stock intake.
-make sure all couplers are tight. you dont want any leaks.
-if you got replacement hoses for the pcv and idle control actuator, make sure they are UNKINKED.

im guessing that you have the cvvt 4 cylinder engine in your 04, because thats the only beta engine after 2001 that is MAF based.

whatever you do, dont buy anything yet.
