Unhappy Need help with automatic transmission....

Hi everyone,

Can someone help me? My red heating light goes on for the automatic transmission after about 15 minutes of driving. The car is a 1995 Montero SR, 3500 engine. The first time was after going up a long hill and I found out the transmission was a quart low on oil. I added the oil and the next day had the oil changed along with having the transmission oil filter cleaned but I still have the problem.

The transmission runs fine with no problems until the light goes on and then it goes into protection mode and drives but will not shift automaticlly (the manuel describes this as an optional feature which I have).

I think there are two heat sensors in this transmission but I am not sure. Could my problem be in the torke converter? Do these sensors go bad sometimes after they have become hot once? Could I have hurt the torke converter by running the car with too little oil and now with the correct amount of oil the transmission still gets hot?

Thanks in advance to your answers!!
