transmission filter

My Nissan part dealer says changing the transmission filter on the X isn't needed since it is just a screen. Unless you were having issues, them you would. Any thoughts on this statement? I know my 04' Quest doesn't list a filter. He said Nissans from around 95' on don't use a transmission filter. Just screens.

And your dealer would pass up on a chance to get you to cough a couple hundred bucks to change a non-existant filter because...?
There is no filter, just keep the fluid fresh and it should last you a couple hundred thousand miles easily. Drain-and-fill (5 of 9 quarts tops) every 20K minimum, complete flush every 60K or so highly recommended. If you plan to keep the vehicle for a long time, have it flushed with synthetic ATF if you can afford it.

I've been draining the fluid every 15k with the Nissan Matic D. Like you say, I'll do the 60k flush.
