Door open bell will not stop..

Our 98 windstar constantley says that a door is open and that crazy dinging won't stop..there are not any doors open! Then sometimes it will just stop ringing for a second (while were driving) and then start again..I cannot take it...does anyone know what the heck we can do about this?

If you use the search funtion you will find a lot of threads about this problem.

Spray some WD40 or better silicone greas in the door locks. Inside is a switch system which is using a rolling ball to give contact when the doors is closed. Sometimes this ball stucks. Just spray it with grease and the problem is gone!!!

Thank you! I am new to this forum, I tried to search but was directed to a registration page...where I posted my question. We cannot wait to try the remedies suggested, because were losing our minds in that darn van!!!! Thanks again.

Had same problem with my 95 and the problem went away after replacing the ignition switch.
