Here are the requirements in order of priority:
1) Good safety ratings 2) Used w/ <50K miles 3) Seats 6 4) Cargo capacity 5) Value Priced We are big outdoor enthusiasts, so we want 4wd/awd, and capacity to throw in all the camping gear as well. Because they are priced better, we would prefer a minivan, but we are having a hard time finding a mfr that actually will design one with an option for 4wd/awd. |

I would suggest a used Chrysler T&C or Dodge Caravan or Toyota Sienna with AWD if you need the 6 seats and van style. Have heard less favorable things on Chevy Astro. Don't plan on any serious offroading with any of these - they are good in the snow however, and are great ski transporters.
Go with an Expedition or Suburban if you need a real workhorse, but be prepared to run up that gas credit card. On the 5 passenger auto side of the equation, Subaru, Audi/VW, and Volvo all make good AWD. Go X-type Jag for real pizazz! You could, of course, just refinance the house and buy the Hummer
