how to install a starter?
I've been wandering how far up do I need to jack a 1995 Pathfinder so I can get to the starter? I went out today to try and get it out but I don't know how unsafe I can get things if I put it to high up.I already got jack stands but I don't really know the capability of the equipment I'm using and I don't want to get squashed by the Pathfinder. I think that would really hurt and scare a tird out of me. Someone please help. Any other information would be great too because this is my first time doing this. Oh yeah, when I finally get the bolts removed is it going to be easier to pull the starter out from the bottum or the top? |

Well, I finally gave up on getting the starter installed. I found a garage that would do it for $60 which seemed worthit considering I didn't know how to navigate through all the other things going around the starter. It actually worked out better because some piece connecting to the starter was leaking oil into it which would have ruined my new starter if I got it in anyway. The mechanic was pretty cool about replacing it considering that he had a hard time with just jacking the truck up so instead he pulled the motor out at no extra charge for the extra work.
Maybe on another vehicle I'll be able to get the starter out. |
