Help With 12 second Eg:b18C-R
Hi,
am looking to build up my engine to touch the 12 seconds at the tracks, right know am doing 14.0 @ 95 mph, with a stock ITR engine in a EG CX Hatch. For the upgrade i got some Skunk2 Stage 3 cams or Jun3 Cams, CTR pistons, 310 injectors, Bosh Gas regulator, Hayame Adj Cams, 4-1 Mugen header, Chiped P30, ARP Studs. All this not yet installed. Anymore info in what other parts i might need to get to my goal will be very appreciated. Thanks! |

if your upgrading fuel, you should also upgrade your ignition. are you having traction problems?? if so, buy some sticky tires, that wont improve HP but it will help u utilize the HP you already have.

You must either not have an ITR or you really can't drive. My friend has a 94 hatch with a B18C5 with i/h/e and he ran a 12.98 in the quarter. My other friend ran a 14.01 with a stock B18C1 with stock everything in a hatch and even stock steelie wheels. I run a low 14's all day with an LS/Vtec in a 93 4-door with a couple tiny mods and steelies aswell. There is something wrong with your setup or your driving. All of our cars are completely stripped though. And don't expect to have your car as a daily driver if you are puting in Skunk2 stage 3 cams. Those are for race cars. Stage 2 is as wild as you want to get for the street, and even with that you really should upgrade the whole valvetrain. You will also need some major tuning if you plan on running all that. CTR pistons in a B18 is going to hate pump gas.
P.S. Like above, Messing with the ignition is only going to harm your performance. Stay with the stock ignition and wires, they always seem to work the best for me and all my friends. |

well yes i do have an ITR in a Hatch, as a matter of fact, we are 3 friends with a ITRs 2 EG Hatchs and 1 EG Coupe. the coupe doesnt get lower than high 14s, and mine and the other hatch did 14.0 last run. i dont know if this has something to do with it, but we run with our spare tires, even boxes of stuff to clean the car in the trunk. we dont use slicks just 4 toyo tires with 300 of tradeware, and we do lower the tires psi to 15 when we go race. then again, i might be doing something wrong, or the setup has something run, cause i dont see any improve in the first 60 feets, its always 2.2 2.3 best 2.1 and i think that's what killing out runs. i have learn to control de hopping and the burnouts, to faster lunches, but still doesnt improve more than 2.1. Got any idea why? |

if your running street tires, doin burnouts will hurt you times, it actually makes the tires slick when u do them, try not doing for a few runs and then check your slips.. youll see the biggest difference in your 60' times.

I would just suggest stripping your car of everything that adds weight. That's what we did and we saw pretty big gains. I hope you got the ITR trannie with that motor. You should have an LSD which is one reason why ITR motors are so quick. Also what's your elevation. I'm at sea level because I basically live on the beach and the strip we go to is only about 5 miles off the coast. The biggest thing I have found with Hondas is weight means more than you think. Also keep your gas tank under 1/2 full. We all used stock steelies with crappy tires. The Guy with the Type-r motor has 15 by 6.5 wheels with Falken Azenis tires.

You can put b16 pistons in b18's. It raises compression a bunch. On my LS/Vtec I put PR3 pistons in it which are first gen b16 pistons. The block on my LS/Vtec is a B18B. The compression was raised from 9.6:1 to 11.5:1. Yes you can put ctr pistons in an itr, it is actually not too uncommon.
