coolant level

Have a 92 s-10 blazer vin"W" every time I check the coolant level it seems to be about a quort or two low, no signs of leakage any where, the level in the resivor never goes down, It has an off the wall after market rad cap on it too, its bean cold lately , the exaust is white and drippy, engine runs great, I was thinking it is either a intake gasket or the head gasket, how is the best way to determine witch is leaking?? before I get into any wrenching I was going to replace the rad cap with a new 1 and cap it off with some bars leaks or equivilent tomorrow. any sugestions would help

Is their a bleeder nipple on these or not?

Re: coolant level

How often are you checking the coolant, it should be checked once a month. If you are losing coolant through the engine, the exhaust will have a sweet smell. The white smoke could be normal moisture along with the water dripping. Don't add any kind of leak sealer if you don't have to. It fixes leaks but can also clog the heater core. If you think you have a leak, have the system pressure tested and visually checked.

as i was just outside looking at it, i decided to check out the radiator resivor, wondering why my radiator was loosing fluid but the fluid in my resivor was not moving, come to find out the hose to my resivor was pluged up, I blew 40lbs of compressed air thorugh it and i barley got a bubble through it, the hose was pluged up with a dry green sawdust type crap, could this of overpresurised my system, could this blow an intake gasket??

and as far as my nose goes.... their is no sweet smell of coolant in the exaust, oils fine looking and the trans fluid look like new
