How to reset.......?

hey guys
a newbee here. i got a 98 240sx base model. gotta a question for ya'll. just today i got the service engine soon light. i have done all the major services to the car within the last 5000 miles and still have about 400 miles more till i gotta change the engine oil. what could be the problem and how can i reset the light? thaks in advance for the help.

just try pulling off the neg battery terminal for a couple of minutes....if that no work there is probably a problem somewhere....

man checking OBD codes of any sort is WAY easy, take the passenger kick panel out, take the ecm out, turn the mode selecter screw fully clockwise, hold for 2 seconds, turn fully counterclockwise, count the long blinks, then count the short blinks. it may spit out multiple trouble codes. keep track of all of them until it repeats one. the long blinks equal a number that is the tens digit in your code, the short ones equal a number in the ones digit. in any book for the car they should have a full list. al you have to do is look it up. they are mostly for sensors and whatnot but its worth checking. i have the book so i could check if you tell me your codes

on hondas the service engine soon light comes on periodically based on mileage. im not sure how to spell periodically or mileage. . . but you have nothing worry about if your mechanic is doing regular maintenance. just stop by and ask where the reset button is if the light bothers you.

or it could be the O2 sensor..... that trips the warn light sometimes

it could be a ton of different things.. the battery disconnect/reconnect is always the first thing you should do cause its quick and easy.. after that if you want to take the time to check out the codes then give'r but if not then ask your mechanic
