278whp Holy Shit

I just took a ride in my friends car. He has a b18c1 in a 1992 CX Hatch. It's turboed and at 8psi is making 278whp. I just about pissed myself it was so fast. Granted he has shitty tires and an open diff, so he spun through 1st, 2nd, and half way through 3rd, but once it hooked up it flew. That was probably the fastest car I've been in as far as top nd goes. He was corrective steering just to keep the thing straight evn when he was hooked up. Hopefully when he gets the traction issues dialed in I can post his time slips. Expect to see low 12's and most likely high 11's. Anyway it was fun. I'm used to my friends 12.5 second WRX, but the top end on this Civic felt stronger.

dont count on 11's quite yet. 11's are pretty fucking hard and at only 278whp its not likely, high 12's i say with an average driver.

LMAO agreed. 278 hp on my car would be low 13s. 278 hp on his car should be low 12s, and if he throws slicks on it, maybe 11s

i have 316whp on my 2200lbs car and i can tell you its no 11 second car. 12's sure. the hard part to get these cars into the lower numbers is traction.
in 1st and 2nd gear when i hit full boost with slick or radials i break my tires loose.

i havent taken my car with the turbo to the track for any 1/4 mile times yet but i have raced my friends turbo'ed rsx (he dynoed 290whp), he ran a 13.5 on street tires. i also have a friend whp has a 90 integra with a turbo'ed h22 (larger t67 turbo, fully built motor) and he ran a 12.2 on slicks and i bet he has atleast 400whp.
all i am saying is there is more to getting into the 11's then just pure hp.

And I everyone sees what I wrote, if he takes care of the traction issues, he will be in the high 11's. And yes there is more than just power that gets you in the 11's, you have to really have the power you claim to have. Most dynoes are off, and shops lie a lot to make you happier. He went to a very experienced tuner to get the car tuned, and that guy was even surprised at how fast his car was, and he tunes cars and especially Hondata all day long. It is a very strong car and the first car I have been trully scared riding in. He was willing to tune it to 13psi and about 350whp est. but my friend wanted it to be a little more streetable. Just a comparison, my other friend has the same car with a B18C5 and I/H/E with Falken Azenis tires and a stripped interior, he ran a 12.98, so I think with over 100 more whp he should be able to hit 11's if he can get traction.

Re: 278whp Holy Shit

well i honestly thing 11's are gonna be tough.not impossible but very tough. l i have seen what a low 12 second tegra does and its really hard.
and if you were meaning to my whp number i can garentuee they are true since i was there on the dyno with my car and the shop is owned my friend. it was a dynojet so you can believe the numbers are as true as they say.
either way i understand how fast his car is, i almost shit my pants the first time i got to rip my car. honestly if your friend wants to stay a reasonable streetable car i wouldnt push much past where its at now. i find my car at the very most of what i want in a daily driver. in the wet i can break my tires loose in 4 gear at 90kms/hr once i get boost, that isnt much fun.
the traction issues he will face are gonna be very hard to overcome, its just gonna be about getting seat time and learning to drive the power, not to mention he will need some slicks, and other traction inhancers(sp?).

I understand, I will post time slips when he runs it. He's getting new tires soon but he will have an open diff until he can save up for an lsd. That may take a while, but he plans on running it when he gets the tires on. I'll make sure to post them.

so true only way to prove anything is to run it and find out. good luck with it, of course i will wait for the lsd run first cuz with an open diff there is no hope in the 11's.
