Help - strange (ringing bell) sound from my 2001 VR6 Jetta
Hello,
I have a 2001 Jetta GLS VR6. I has ~27k miles on it. Recently i started hearing a sound, which i think comes from the front bottom of the car. The sound is similar to a small bell ringing. It only comes when i am driving at 25mph or less. The sound does not come at idling or when i am driving at higher speeds. Could anyone please help me figure out what this sound could be? Or where i should look under the car to better understand it? Also, since my 30k service is almost due, i went to the vw dealership for servicing. They wanted $200 for the service, atleast $120 to just look at the problem and the guy was suggesting it might cost more...he will call me for that... I had a feeling that i was going to get ripped off there, so i just walked out without giving my car for servicing. Could anyone please suggest a (cheap and good) place where i get my car serviced? I am in the Bay Area, CA. thanks a lot to you all... sg |

A 30K service includes a Oil change and Rotate only....
As for the ringing sound, nothing makes a ringing noise on a vw.... maybe a rattle, but no ringing bell noise. The dealer should be able to check out the noise while they have the car in the air doing the oil change while the oil is draining... duah... but then again, some shops might just want to rip people off... CA i guess... |
