timing chain aliment

need help trying 2 replace the chain but cant find any timing marks it is a2.2 99 model need help please

Line up the dots on the gear teeth then remove the old one. Then put the gears in the chain, line up the dots on the gears, and install. Easy. Check a Chiltons or Haynes manual for referance photos. Good Luck.

the problem is that the gears dont have any dots

They are there! The dots are very small, located on one of the teeth on each gear. When you look at the set on the car you may not see them if they are in the chain. You will need to rotate the engine by hand until they line up. The indent is about the size of a ink pen tip (pretty small)
