4T60E Transmission
This was also posted in the Cutlass forum.
I bought my 1995 Cutlass Supreme SL in December, 2003. 2 weeks after I got the car, the trans mission went. 4 months later (04/03) the 2nd transmission went 300 miles from home. It cost me $300.00 to have it towed back, and another $1400.00 to have another transmission put in. Tonight, the transmission went again. I can drive forward with lots of clicking noise, but no reverse gear! The car won't reverse! Yes, transmission #3 went. Now, I babied that car. In the year I owned it, I put a little under 20,000km (12,500 miles) on the car, and a little over $5000.00 in repairs on that car. Tie-rods, struts, steering bushings, rotors & pads, relays, horn, etc... The 4T60E transmission is in the 92 ~ 97 Cutlass Supreme, Grand Prix, Buick Regal, and some models of the Grand AM. After much research, I've come to realize that this was probably the worst transmission GM ever made. There's less problems if the shifter is in the middle console than on the steering column. So, I'm getting a 2002 Grand Prix GT, and selling the cutlass to the wrecking yard! Peace to all, and good luck with your Cutlass. May you have better luck than me! |
