Please help this is driving me nuts

Ok I drive my car (1997 civic ex) to sears, the speakers, subs play just fine, then i get out of sears, turn on my car, and the subs still work but i have no speakers, so i go home check all the fuses, all fine, take out the cd player, check every wire in the harness especially all the speaker wires twice and they are all FINE. So i go to the fuse panel under the hood, check them all, all FINE. WHY arent my speakers working, the cd player plays just fine, it has a little display that hits with the music too, so i tuned that and my radio in my garage to the same station and it beats to the right song, It has to be something with the speakers but what????? thanks in advance

sounds to me like the speakers are shorting out on the frame of the car. make sure that no metal from the speaker touches anything except for where you attach it to the car. if the back of the speaker touches metal, it will short out and the deck will cut all power to that output, leaving only the subs running.

yup. i dont know about civics, but on my accord i had a huge problem with the rear speakers wires touching the frame (has something to do with the connections being to close to the frame, and they couldnt move em... i duno)... used a bunch of electrical tape and recrimped the wires to the connectors. never had the problem again
