Alpine 9835 Sound problems

I swapped from pioneer 6100 cd player to alpine 9835 but have had major problems with sound quality. The pioneer sounded great but the alpine doesn't sound as good. Would it possibly down to the alpine needing more power and a direct connection to the battery.

Re: Alpine 9835 Sound problems

well first you have to describe what sounds bad about it....is there distortion? static? humming? no bass? no treble?

No bass up front which make it sound like the front speakers are out of phase with the subs in the boot. Treble becomes distorted at volumes over 22. Car also sounds reasonable when stationary and without engine running but generally most systems sound better this way. Pioneer head unit didn't suffer from any of these problems.

Re: Alpine 9835 Sound problems

The Alpine 9835 is a pure quality headunit. I highly doubt it is something wrong with the product itself.

Re: Alpine 9835 Sound problems

as for the no bass, check to see if you have a highpass filter on

for the distortion, that could be due to the amp clipping because of low voltage, which could be due to the crappy stock wiring. Running your own wire to the battery like Alpine recommends could be the fix for that.

Yep wired unit straight to battery sound quality improved 300%

Thanks for backing up my own theory.
