2001 Silverado Won't Start
2001 Silverado Won't Start. I just bought this truck from the dealership, and Merry Christmas, it won't start.
5.3 Vortec. It turns over really well, but won't 'catch'. Normally it starts right up, no problem. There is a 'Battery' indicator on in the the message center. And the srvice engine soon lamp came on too. I tried disconnecting the battery. (But only for about a minute if not less. It's pretty cold out!) Thought that might 'reset' some chip or something. any help would be greatly appreciated. ...Austin |

Don't know if that will help you out or not though.

sounds like a crank sensor. Can u hear the fuel pump running?. With the OBDII I don't think you can reset without a scantool of some sort.

Turn's out it was the fuel pump! Sheesh! 55,000 miles and the fuel pump went out. No warning, just .. gone. Thankfully I was at home when this occured. FYIA:
The pump cost approx $450.00, I know, I couldn't believe it either! Then with installation, the total cost came to something like $750.00. (The dealership had to drop the tank ect) Lucky for me, this all happened before my used car warrenty expired. They paid for it! I did pay for a new fuel filter though, at the behest of a friend of mine that is a mechanic. He said it would be a good idea. $45.00 installed. Other then this, I really like my newer Silverado. Nice truck. Thanks for all the feedback! |
