Your advise on a used 240 SE ?????

Hey guys, a friend of mine is looking for a car, and I found him a "1989 Nissan 240SX SE” He saw the pics, and fell in love with this car.
Are these cars really reliable, at 115,000??? He’s going to be able to pick up the car for $2500. I am a Honda guy, so I can’t be sure what to tell him about Nissans durability after 100,000. Can you guys tell me any things to look out for, or something that might give him problems with it before he buys it??? He already got screwed on the last car he bought so he does not get screwed again????

Thanks a lot, and If he get the car, ill be sure to make him sign-up on here for some help, and tips

got some pics of it too

Thanks guys.....

nissans are realiable past that number of miles, but 2500 is too much for that car

its is rather old, there are alot of miles, and the engine is only a SOHC, which cant produce as much power

also its automatic

1) Valve Stem Seals are probably whats causing the smoke.
2) Tell Him to quit being a little girly man and learn to drive a stick.
3) Make Him give me that lip.
4) If you live up north check EVERYWHERE for rust.
5) Drive it. and If anything makes you worry spring for a mechanic to check it out.
6) 2K seems fair. Most S13s I see go from 1-4000 now.

wahahahahahahahahahaha thats classic, but tru.

yea the engine's are good for 200,000. I have 3 at my house all have over 160,000. You may hear some engine ticking when it idles...alot seem to do that...but they still run fine. It's normal. Both of mine do it, sounds like timing chain guides are fucked or something. Not worried about it though.

Re: Your advise on a used 240 SE ?????

$2000 would be a much better offer. That's not a lot of miles really, but it is an automatic...which sucks. And did you say he can't drive a stick?! I think he should learn that pretty soon before he gets burned later.

Nice wheels, but what's with the little girl interior, oh wait, it's for the little girl that's going to buy it. (btw, I'm refering to the guy who can't drive stick.)

I'm about to buy a 91 240 hatchback, and its a fucking automatic!!!!! but its $800 177,000 on motor and he said the tranny has about 20,000 on it. Comes with ol' vador kit poo on that one, i dont like the front bumper, just needs suspension, motor mount kit, and has a little rust from the wing ( now supposidly the car runs fine, just a little rough being it needs new suspension.) but im going to go test drive it this sunday and decide if i should buy, i think its a pretty fair deal, seeing that i was going to change suspension out anyways with any 240 i buy, and im getting rid of that piece of shit automatic. what you guys think about that price?
