p0303 cylinder 3 misfire

1995 4X4 4dr, vin W. 184,000 miles. The SES light just came on today and i put my scanner in and it came up with that code and said cylinder 3 misfire. I have done 2 tuneup on ths car in teh last year and a half. what else would cause this? maybe the fuel injector or a sticky poppet. i heard blazer are notorious for sticky poppets. easy fix? thanks in advance,

Re: p0303 cylinder 3 misfire

Quite possible...

Do the usual checks first though. Pull your IMTV under the "Vortec" plastic and peek inside with a flashlight. Check for fuel washing, or the smell of raw gasoline inside. If you are good, then I would suspect a sticking injector. I had a slight miss in my engine when I first bought the truck used - due to a slightly gunky injector that never lit the SES; but responded well to a "Double Shot" of Techron fuel injector cleaner.

Buy two bottles of the "SUV" sized Techron that treats up to 24 gallons and dump them into a nearly empty tank at the gas station. Top it up and drive it until nearly empty. Hopefully within an hour or two of just cruising down the highway, she'll pick right up without a problem. Stay in touch and let us know what's going on.
