02 Malibu Firing Problem

A couple days ago, Imy malibu lost power on acceleration (about 80%) There was a fault code related to transmission and torque converter, but the transmission looked fine. The engine seems to misfire under load. The plugs and cables have been changed, new coils were put in, the problem is still there. Computer diagnostics don't show any problems. Has anyone seen a problem similar to this?

Also, I had a 01 Chevy Express van with had very similar problem as far as loss of power. It turned out to be an O2 sensor. This (new) shop says all diagnostics on the o2 sensor are good, however the other shop didn't identify it as an O2 sensor until the fourth visit for same problem. Could this be the same problem and the new shop does\n't know what to look at? Help! I'm moving across country in two days!

Hi Renzy,

Thanks for the interest.

It turned out to be the catalytic converter. Under warranty, <80K miles <8 years.

On the road tomorrow am!

Thanks again.
