Lightbulb Syracuse Area

I looked and didn't see a Syracuse thread. I know there are a lot of people with nice cars in the area, and I'm sure quite a few are on here.

Syracuse-Auburn-Rochester-Utica/Rome-etc areas post here.

I'm in jordan, in between Auburn and Syracuse. I'm new here.. Graduate high school in june, a year early, and then head off to basic training for the Army, National Guard anyway until I get college through.

Who else is around?

Hey I live in the syracuse area, in solvay. I own a Red 03 Lancer with some minor mods.

I agree there are some nice cares around here. Though too many Civics.

I've seen a couple EVO 8s one with a CF hood. Too many Mustangs to count. Too many corvettes to count. The best car I've seen is probably a AT S2000 not sure one the year.

I'm interested in starting a car club up here not sure howm any people would be in on it since most sports car owners around here are all in the later years.

EDIT: by the end of summer I'll have saved enough to finance a RX-7 or an EVO... mmm RX-7 goodness I'd like a '94 or '95 mmm *Drool*

That's cool. When I get back from AIT, around November-December, and get my car built, I'd be interested in a club depending on what it was like.

Noone else? :P

Solvay isn't far from Jordan-Elbridge is it?

I am from Massachusetts, but I go to school In Syracuse (State University Of New York College Of Environmental Science And Forestry, it's right next to Syracuse University). I would be interested in a real car club, most of the kids at SU are kind of rich and only care about body kiting their hondas.

LOL, yah those honda kids are everywhere. At the moment my 240sx is having a new engine dropped in, and I need to buy new rocker panel re-enforments and the outer molding stupid rust.

But anyways. On June 18th there is an SCCA Solo 2/AutoX event at the Burdick automall. Heres the Sched. http://cnyroadrace.web.aplus.net/scca/solo2.htm You don't really need to bring anything (other than money) as far as I know they provide loaner helmets at the event.

It would be a great chance to meet some of the people on this forum and to really drive w/o worrying about crashing into someone or something. This will be the first event I'll be going to.

If you guys can't do that we can come up with something. Just keep posting on these forums

Re: Syracuse Area

speaking of crashing into sutff, is there any good places to go driving in the CNY area? I want to drive on twisty roads and such. driving these long straight lines and gentle curves can really suck sometimes.

Re: Syracuse Area

sure there is....ever heard of 13 curves? Its on the way headding from lafayette to marcellus on rt 20. Those are fun trying to see how fast you can go around them but still stay safe. I've been up to 59 around them.

Ah yes, my friend took me there yesterday I was pretty bored and was just cheking it out, didn't go over 45mph. It's just too short though. I mean comon in NC they have this http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps/postermap2003.gif

Or how about the Mazda Cup Leguna Seca Raceway? I've never been there but next time I'm in California I'm there. I'll drop all my money for a day at the track.

Oh BTW another car show July 16-18th at the fairgrounds.

Re: Syracuse Area

That tail of the dragon looks siccc. Is the car show at the fair ground the Syracuse Nationals? I'm not really a fan of seeing the old car shows..I like the well "riced" ones. Like at the sport compact and truck blast. Those are shows i like. What kind of car do you drive?

I was thinking how great it would be to have a mile long race track to play in. Is there anything like that around here? I believe Cherry Valley/Something??? does autocross events from time to time, but I'm looking for somewhere where you plop down a couple hundred for a time block and drive to your hearts content.

If not I'm eventually gonna build this, it is my new dream, haha.

It'd be great. If not owned by a wealthy sponser.
