92 civic
Hello all
My stepson bought this car and has had some problems. He has been complaining that it is overheating. We changed the thermostat this didn't fix the problem. It left him on the side of the road over the weekend. After I checked it out I found it had a blown head gasket. I replaced it thought that would fix it. Nope I then thought the cat might be plugged. I replaced it still having problems. The car also has a bad dead spot when you goose it. It also seems to be running rich. I have check everything I can think of. So any help would be GREAT.

Re: 92 civic
generally the blown headgasket on those d15 motors is the result of overheating. and when you replaced the ehadgasket did you macine the head?
can you tell if there is any coolant circulating in the system. ie. the overflow is filling/emptying. its hard to tell you for sure what out further details. fill me in more and i will try to help more.

James I didn't have the head machined but I did straight edge it to check for warpage. The symptoms are. When you are driving and the more you croud the motor the hotter it get but when you let off it cools right down. That is why I thought it might be back pressure causing it. I haven't had a chance to drive it since I replaced the Cat. But the dead spot concerns me. The car Idle's great and if you gently rev it up it will speed up but if you crack it open if fall's on it's face it will eventually pick up. And the car is also running rich.
