2002 S-10 Crew Cab nothing but trouble

Hi I am new to this forum and have a 2002 Chevy S-10 Crew Cab. I purchased mine new in April 2002 and have had nothing but trouble. Replaced the hydrolic switch that controls the vent for the A/C & Heating system twice, a bushing between the bed and the cab cracked and was squeeking, the rubber on the driver and passenger door falls off even after it has been replaced twice, and now the computer that controls it going into 4 Wheel drive when you push the button has gone bad. All these things have gone wrong and I only have 13,000 miles on it. I love the truck but hate the problems. All I can say is thank god for the warranty or I would be bankrupt.

Anyone else have problems with S-10 of that year?

S10 Crewcab Problems

I have a 2001 S10 Crew Cab 4 Wheel Drive. Only had it for 3 months.
It has about 60K on it. The gas gauge quit 2 months after I bought it. Cost $355.00 at the parts house. You have to buy the whole fuel pump/sender assy. The front end was sagging bad. Had a front end shop crank up the torsion bars and re-align. Also had an oil leak (oil sending unit) and an AC problem that seemed to fix itself. Gas milage is only about 13.5 around town. Havn't been on a long trip to get hiway milage yet. No other problems yet.

I notice where movin2stereo said he had a driver's side front bearing go bad. Was wondering how you can tell when this happens. I have a 99 zr2 blazer that I've had to replace two tires on from warping (one less than 15,000 miles). All were on driver's front. Now am getting that shake again when ever I get up to 70 mph. Afraid same thing is happening. Any clues as to what my be causing this other than unbalanced tire. Gonna get that corrected this week. Hopefully that's just the problem.

When the wheel bearing went,it just made alot of noise and I could feel a vibration in the steering wheel. What do you mean when you say warping?

The tire basically gets a bubble on it. Makes it have a whobble effect riding on it. Mechanic said it looked like I had ran over something but I haven't. Could just be me being paranoid since I've had two do that. Will know for sure after I get the balance checked.

No, your sounds stock by those mileage figures.

S10's are light trucks for that size of engine.

What kind of tires are these? Is the bubble on the sidewall or the tread itself?

The tires are BF Goodwrench LT (long trail). Same as stock set that came on my zr2 package. Stock set lasted over 75k miles & no probs until the one warped so it was getting time and I replaced three and put my spare on (same tire) then kept the best of the orig. for a spare. 20k later the spare got warped too. Both were on tread. Luckily the tire warranty was still good so I go a discount on a new one. Also found out that this tire is discontinued now. Lucky to find a dealer that still had some in stock. It's been 10k since replacement and it's the replacement tire that seems to be causing the shake. Could feel the change when I rotated them.

That was yesterday, this is now. GM is, well, don't get me started. Still compared to what else is out there without "Toyota" on the tailgate the S10 is a pretty good truck for the money.

Angry S-10 4x4 Crew Cab 2002

This truck has cost me way too much money & now the 4x4 is out. 404 miles out of warranty the rear end goes out. Now 500 miles after having the rear end rebuilt ( $1800.00 ) the 4x4 stops working. The truck had been in the shop ( under waranty ) for windshield wipers not working, defroster not wroking, door seals coming off, a/c heater switch not working. This is the first Chevy I've bought since 1983 and now I know why they stopped making the s-10. If you looking to buy a used one don't do it.
