aluminum wheel cleaning

My son recently bought a car with original brushed/textured aluminum wheels. They have stains that regular washing and scrubbing won't penetrate.
Any products or ideas on how to make them look better? Thanks!

Re: aluminum wheel cleaning

You could go to a truck stop or something and get some Oatar or Jeweler's Rouge, that stuff will take anything off. You'll need a grinder to apply the Rouge though. We cut the fuel tanks on the semis with grinders and the Rouge, and it works very nice.
