S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
I have a 93 S10 Blazer, that was garaged for several years, but I now keep it outside, since I got a newer camry. Somewhere along the line it developed a leak from rain water entering the vehicle on the passenger side. It seems to be coming in from behind the right kick panel, and it can build up quick.. living in Seattle doesn't help, because it does rain a lot here. As far as I can tell it is coming from water going into the vent holes on the piece behind the hood under the wipers. If I cover these holes and windshield with a tarp I get no water. Somehow it is flowing over to the passenger side, and into the vehicle. I did replace a rubber seal that goes around the hood hinge but that didn't really help. If I pour water down the hole for the hood hinge I can see water coming inside near the vent-kick panel area, this car has air conditioning so it seems these vents are basically blocked off. It is hard to see anything behind the area where the water is entering. I don't even know who I would take the car to for repair of this type of problem. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
Water leaks are always a bitch to find cause frankly it can be coming from anywhere.Your going to have to take off your wipers and your cowl.Look for signs of seam sealer cracking. You should also pick up your carpet and take out(or move aside) any sound deadening and trim panels that are in the way.You will need a good look.Have somebody hose down your cowl area while you are inside with a flashlight looking for water coming in.As the hose moves from side to side you will be able to tell a location where the water might be coming in.Your leak could also be the windshield so keep that in mind too.Good luck and get your carpet dried up as it will stink if left wet.

Re: S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
Thanks for the info, I did take all those panels out of the way and I can see the water entering from the inside. I don't mean to sound like a dummy but how do you take those wiper arms off, so I can remove the cowl. Do you need a special tool, I know there is some type of clip lock that holds the arm on the knurled motor arm.

Re: S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
Mine just has a plastic cap over a nut. You can remove the plastic cap just by pulling in the right direction, once off unscrew the nut.
BTW. Kalamar: please refrain from so much cussing, do we really need that. Also, most of us on hear are either to help or ask questions so keep your oppinion of the truck to yourself because mine has more then given me my money's worth. |

Re: S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
The old stlye S10 wiper arms are held on by a clip like retainer.Get a flat screwdriver, look on your wiper arms, see the little tab?Stick your screwdriver behind the tab and pry against the wiper arm(basicly turn your screw driver).Pull on the wiper arm also.It should pop off.The hard part will be pulling off the washer hose off of the pisser and then getting it back on.Hint, needle nose pliers.

Re: S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
This might not make sense, but sometimes the best way to stop a leak is just clean out all the drain holes on the bottom of the truck, it just seems to let the water flow the way GM intended it to then, instead of up and into the cab

I had the same problem with my 97 S-10 water was leaking on to the passenger side rug. All I did was remove the wipers and cowling, cleaned out leafs and other tree junk, cleaned out drain holes and I had no more leakage.

I'd like to get under that cowling to check it out, because I know that's where the water is coming from, but I still can't figure out how to get those wiper arms off. I don't see any tabs underneath, am I stupid, blind or both? I know there is supposed to be a special tool (#8399 ??)but I went to a dealer and they don't even stock it. They said to go to Napa or a Snap on or Mac tool man.

Re: S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
The tabs aren't underneath the are. They are on the side towards your windshield.A screwdriver is all you need.Look at your wiper close. You will see a little tab.

Last Christmas I hade a lead similar to yours but it was leaking on both sides and I found my carpet was saturated with water after a big rain. Let me tell you it was a huge bitch to find the lead but I did. I tore out the entire carpet and interior and got my dad to pour water over the truck when I was in it. The leak turned out to be comming from the kickpanels similar to your problem. The water was getting in the truck through a woren down seal where the side of the kick was meeting the start of the firewall, if that makes any sense. I hope this help you.

Re: S10 blazer rain water entering vehicle
That sounds exactly like what is happening to mine. The carpet is getting soaked and I can see water coming in when I take the kick panel off and its raining or I pour water down the cowl. I notice there is a large rubber seal in that area, kind of near the inside the edge of the front of the door, is that what your're talking about? What did you have to do to get it fixed?? Did you have to remove the fender.
