engine ticking , whining noise 2003 dodge dakota
I have 2003 dakota quad cab 5.9L engine aprox 37k miles. Lately it started ticking in the engine. Today the ticking became a whining noise. It sound like the front of the motor but when you open the hoo it sounds like it is in the rear of the motor. Does any one have any suggetions, similar problem, or knoledge of this?
thanks for your help! |

Re: engine ticking , whining noise 2003 dodge dakota
how loud is the ticking sound? If you're in doubt, and if it still under warranty, go back to dealer and let the look at it. Some things it can be, if it's soft, the rocker arms aren't getting enough oil. If it's really loud, you could have a piston slapping the cylinder wall. The whining sound could be an intake manifold gasket leak or a vacuum hose has fallen off.
