Question Head unit error questions

I blew the center speaker in the dash the other day and i just took out the speaker today. I unhooked the battery to be safe so i had to imput the code to get the head unit working again. The code i had wasn't working and after you imput it three times the head unit shuts off. Does anyone know how to get it back to normal at this point. The manual says to go to a dealer to get assistance but i'd rather not have to do that. The code i had obviously wasn't working but i'd like to try to do it again before i call a dealer.

i attemptedto put a head unit in once and it didnt work but i did have the same problem with the code, if u fail 3 times u have to get the right code, which is on the actual headunit if u take it out of the car, then put everything back in, and leave the car in the battery only position for like 2 hours then it will reset and u can enter the code.

Re: Head unit error questions

Wow! I'm glad I came here first. 3 months ago, my CD's were ejected as I touched each of the selections, and Err came across the screen. Just before that, I blew the dash speaker. So, now I have to replace both, I think. Unless there's some quick fix to the stereo. It didn't say CODE. So, I'm thinkin it has something to do with wiring coming loose or cleaning or something. Anyone have any suggestions? I hear Tweeter will replace both for relatively cheap, and doing it yourself is a total nightmare. Since, you need to rerout the head unit and the amp because of some kind of direct connection to the Infiniti system that can not be disconnected. Please fill in the blanks, I'm not great with technical lingo. Anyway, HELP!!

Um, I really dont think the code is on the head unit because the reason there is a code in the first place is for theft. If the head unit is stollen I dont think Mitsu wants the code on the stollen product...kinda negates the whole Idea. Listen to the other guys and go to Mitsu about it.

No, I meant the display that shows Err and/or CODE...not the head unit. What I meant to say is the display shows Err and NOT the word CODE...so I don't know if it is loose wiring or something else. I did call Mitsubishi last Tuesday. I have not heard back. After I talk to them, I will post what they've told me. Thanks guys!!!

Yeah, The head has no display on it...thats the little thing with the clock. If it has said "code", than your vehicle has lost power and the Anti Theft Stereo is doing its job. You need to enter the 4 digit code for your specific unit. If you dont have that code you can contact a dealer and they can get it for you. I personally think that the theft system should only go off if the unit has been disconected...otherwise leaving your lights on would activate the system...kinda stupid. The same thing happened to me, but I was putting in a Kenwood X979 Deck anyways...its kicks ass if anyone wants to know...a little $$$, but well worth the money for everything it is able to do for an aftermarket system.

If anyone has installed a sub box in their trunk, let me know how you did this. I am planning on making an MDF insert for the OEM spare tire cover, and mounting it on hinges to the frame so that I can lift it up with the sub box and amps if i need to change the tire. It should work pretty good, and when i get done with it I will post a thread with my layout for anyone else that is interested.

(New System= Kenwood X979 Deck, 10 disk changer, 5 Fahrad Capacitory, All new Kicker Midrange and Custom 8" Center speaker, 1 12" Kicker Solo Barak L7, 1 Kenwood 1600 Watt amp for sub, 1 800 watt Kenwood Amp for Midrange, 1 200 wat amp for Center, All will be controlled through my Deck which is an awsome feature)
