Angry Weird Starting Problem

Hey All,

OK, this is odd. I pulled in to the gas station for a fill and after getting the fuel and trying to start my car, it would turn over but not start. i waited about half an hour and couldn't get it to start.

After about 2 hours it started like a charm and ran perfectly. I drove the car for a few mihnutes and turned it off to see if it was OK and of course, it would not start again. It seems that if I wait a long time it starts again fine but not if I've just shut it off.

Can anyone recemmend anything?

Note:
-The car was not very low on fuel to start with
-I did run it very low on gas a few days ago before filling it
-The battery cranks very well and turns over strong
-I've always had fuel pumps die slowly and start to chug, so I don't think that's it. Could I be wrong here?Could running te car to low on fuel damage the pump and cause it to fail when its warm?

Please help!

Joey

Re: Weird Starting Problem

Unless you've had you tank replaced. Ruuning past the last quarter in a 91 or similar will cause all the sediment and crap that has collected in the tank over the last 13/14 years to clog the system and when you leave it it'll settle again. Filling it will slosh it all around. Should only need say 10-20 mins to settle though depending on if it's just dirt or chunks of oxidised (rusted) gas tank.
