3.1 to a 3.4?

I have a 90 3.1 euro, I was curious, how difficult would it be to loose the 3.1 for a 3.4? or maybe even a 3.8?? is it possible or even worth the effort? if it can be done for relativly cheap I'd like to know

Re: 3.1 to a 3.4?

It can be done for sure. Not easy, though, especially for the 3800. It's also not a cheap install, either. If you're going to do it, don't waste your time with the 3.4. Go to a salvage yard and get a 3800SC with a 4t65e transmission. The entire wire harness in the car will need to be replaced, and you'll probably have to move the battery to the trunk. I actually considered doing the switch in my '90 when my 3.1 puked, but I ended up getting a used 3.1 for free.

I dont reccomend the 3.4 switch at all. My 3.1 has all the pep I need. The 3.8 is however a good strong motor.
