99 cougar air

The air runs only on the high setting not on any other setting what could the problem be?

The high speed is a direct conection. The slower speeds go through a resister, and they burn out. It's cheep to fix. Probably a "dealer item" though. If you have the automatic control with the digital temp. I can't help you entirely different.

replace the resistor. it is located on the passenger side foot area look for a plug going into the plastic duct pull the plug and remove the resistor it will most likley be cracked,go to a ford dealer and you will get a new one for about 12 bucks
