Question 96 sunfire wipers

Wipers on my 96 sunfire stopped working. Pulled arms off to check linkage and motor, worked fine w/out wiper arms on... Could it just be the motor getting weak in its old age? Would appreciate any help before I spend 120 bucks on new motor.
Thanks in advance.

Re: 96 sunfire wipers

It could be the ground to the wiper motor. When you have the arms off the motor may be in a different postion where it has a good ground. Attach a ground wire to the metal part of the motor and see if it works then. If you need to replace the motor get one from a wrecking yard. You can probably get one for less than half the price of a brand new one.
