The best ProTouring car club EVER!!

I have noticed a big trend going around of pro touring muscle car and today while I was "studying" at school I came across this web site. These cars are INSAINE. They are so nice that revel made on into there own kit. His cars name is Horton and it is the base for the California wheels Chevelle. So take a look at this site for some inspiration.

Re: The best ProTouring car club EVER!!

The model isn't based off his car. Wrong year all together. Kris Horton is the guy doing all the camaro renderings around that are being called the "5th gen camaro." He's 19 and that car was finished for SEMA this year. There are LOTS of bad ass cars there...I've been a member since the site started. The site that that one is a spin-off of is www.pro-touring.com

Thanks for posting that link up here. Will's put it up a few times before in various threads. For any model to be an accurate representation of the object it's attempting to model, research is important. LateralG and Protouring are essential resources for building a true Pro-Touring model.

You get 'em (us!) Put us in our place for callin' our whips pro-tourers.

Just screwin' with ya'll. I can understand your pain over misnomers. Very cool sight, btw, I've been totally taken by these sorts of cars. What sorts of wheels would ya'll suggest to put on models? Does anyone make anything appropriate?

Re: The best ProTouring car club EVER!!

That is what i posted in a thread recently. I think the main reason that people are getting them "wrong" for my perception of what pro-touring is, is due to the fact that for modelers there really isn't any middle ground...It's either factory or HUGE. I've put skyline wheels on my pro-touring camaro for a nice look. Nothing too big and definitly performance minded.

Re: The best ProTouring car club EVER!!

i think what we need for these type of models is a couple 18 or 19inch HRE style wheels. im not sure tho, maby aoshima makes this style wheel. if not then SAS definatly needs to make some.

Re: The best ProTouring car club EVER!!

Nobody makes an appropriate HRE-styled wheel I wish someone would as I'd buy a few sets. I tried to get some cast but the price and hassle were way more than I wanted to deal with. I just use Pegasus wheels instead...

Re: The best ProTouring car club EVER!!

I've been thinking about making my own soon. I KNOW i can design them in pro-engineer 3d modeling program and there is a "quick prototype" machine here at A&M that produced a resin cast "prototype" that would be as nice as a wheel from pegasus (would need to be painted though) and it would do it in a matter of minutes for a SET. I'll see if i can get access to this machine.

Re: The best ProTouring car club EVER!!

definatly try to do that. it would also be cool if they came with a set of sleaved in the back so you could determine the size of the rear lip. i think a lot of people would pay a good amount for those.

I think model wheel makers are making a mistake by not making all wheels with adjustable back spacing. How hard would it be for someone like Aoshima to make the rim a seperate part from the center, so the builder could slide the center as far in or out of the rim for whatever back spacing required? They already make a lot of two-peice wheels. I think you're on to something, AstroRide, I think you're on to something very clever.
