im in idiot in the suspension depot
i have a 2000 civic si. my next project on my car are the wheels and suspension. im going to put 17x7s on and i also want the super clean dropped look. ive heard many things about what to buy but i want to do the whole thing. shocks, struts, springs, coilovers so i wont have to replace anything in a year. do i also need camber kit? and if i put 17s on.. how many inches in a good drop just to tuck the tire.. if that! thanks

suspension- i wouldnt go cheap get a good set of coilovers such as tein. if you want to go the sleeve over type suck as skunk2, neuspeed and such i would have to say ground control, they have had the best rep i have heard of although not having used them myself. dropping your car- i had my 99 civic dropped all the way down in the rear and it was a rough ride but gave an awesome tucked appearence. the front end i would not lower down all that much, i left about 1/2" to 1/4"above the tire to allow for clearence and travel. if you have aftermarket exhaust make sure if you dont want to wer holes in it you dont slam it all the way down cause i went through mufflers like they were going out of style( which i think they are). i think in the 2 years i had my 99 i went through four mufflers. its a expensive hobby but if done right will wield you great results

Ummm, maybe you shouldn't have lowered your car SOO much more in the rear than you did in the front. He said he wanted a clean look!!
I would buy the wheels and tires that you want. Then, once their on, you can measure exactly how much it needs to be lowered. That would be the "right" way to do it. |
