Talking b18c Typr R

Hi im looking tobuild a b18c type R block with a b16 head. goin for N/A and looking to hit about 300 hp reliable. What would be the best way of goin about that? I was goin around reading other peoples posts and iv come up with this:b18c type R block, B16 head, N/A, type R pistons, skunk 2 stage 2 cams, skunk2 intake, skunk 2 springs & retainers, hondata ECU, Is there anything els i should do?am i heading in the right direction? I want to try to keep everything skunk 2 if possible I heard that this is a good company for performance parts correct me if im wrong. And im going to be putting all this in a 94 ej1 civic coupe what kind of tranny would be best for this set up "ls,gsr what"? I am a begginer at this so try to word things simple. Thanks for your time and advice in advance.

Re: b18c Typr R

sorry for the delayed response...

first, skunk2 is a great company, but i wouldnt call them the best... it is wise to match valvetrain parts with the same company to help eliminate any variances in manufacturing different companies might have.

as for tranny choices, that would greatly depend on what you will be using the car for..

if all you care about is acceleration, i would suggest the b16 trans.. if you drive on the highway a lot, the LS trans... and if you want a middle of the road, the GSR Trans.

+1...

What you use the car for is DEFINITELY what should determine what transmission to use. The longer gearing the LS can hurt acceleration but it helps keep the RPM's down on the freeway (better MPG). The B16 has short gearing, so it accelerates quick. A lot of people like the GSR transmission, as it's a good middle of the road, as was said.

First, figure out what attribute is important to you, and THEN choose the tranny accordingly.

Re: b18c Typr R

I'm not being a hater, I have an actual b18c5 in my 89 si. However, I feel you're trying to gain unreasonable hp. Sure people will say they did it....and it blew up. Only way you'll get 300hp n/a is nos

toda will sell you 250hp c5 for $15,000...what the??

but to answer your original question: why not the c5 tranny?!? It's LSD & geared properly. Otherwise I would agree with the blurry green's suggestions.
