I recently bought an 01 PF with standard Bose stereo with Clarion 6 disc changer. Recently, when I play burned CDs (CDRs) the sound cuts off after about the 5th track and disc changer moves to the next disc. This does not happen with store bought CDs. Anyone have any suggestions on what is causing this? Thanks!

They definitely worked.
CDRs definitely played. Until recently, they played very well. I spoke to a tech at a local sound shop. He informed me that the technology in the Clarion CD player is actually older than 2001 and that it is not designed to play CDRs. Playing CDRs eventually burns out the laser and it won't any discs at all. Mine is just starting to have problems, but I intend to discontinue playing CDRs until I replace the player. Which brings me to my other questions: Does anyone know of a good head unit?

Re: CDR Playing Problems on Bose (01' PF)
about how long would it take to mess up the laser? ive been playing cd-r's fine with no problems and it doesnt seem to be bad at all. i have an 01 SE path with bose sound system. i want to keep my car stock looking because i am happy with the headunit it has. but it is also too costly to fix thru dealership, and then it will have the same problem anyway.

Re: CDR Playing Problems on Bose (01' PF)
all the bose will play cd'rs it just depends how old it is: there are also many variables:quality of the cd ur using, what program burned it,cd-r or cd-rw, dirty lens I found out on mine that the lens on the computer was burning bullsh*t cd's but they were playing on regular home cd players, also don't use a HIGH recording speed when burning the cd and use a quality cd, i had a 97 infiniti qx4 and took it all the way up 185,000 miles with little problems if that dosent go well at all use the tape casset with the portable cd player, plus that way u can make ur volume louder n e way....Peace

That sounds like a load of crap to me. Why would the laser burn out? It either reads the cd or it doesn't. Anyway, I agree with the other poster who recommended using quality cds and burning at low speeds. I have the same setup as you and the only reason my cds skip sometimes is because I treat them like crap. They are all scratched up and it is a wonder that they even play at all. I for one would like to upgrade to an mp3 player or something that I could just stick an sd card in with 100 songs or something. Mike |
