No that isn't it. Radioshack cars are cheap. They suck in other words. They can't be hopped up or anything. Brake to easily. And are slow. Spend some money and get a hobby grade rc. Damn wait to mike comes. He might lock this. You never know. Also im not starting a flame war.

As long as you have yourself convinced of that, you should be fine.

In the meantime, I will stick with my real R/C car.

Yep, you asked for it now.

I hate Xmods. I hate Xmods for one because they are not what us Pro-Am RC drivers call a "real RC". Anything bought from Radio Shack is not a "real RC". Xmods are also portable rice from Radio Shack, they are so damn ugly. Has anyone noticed that the children that have Xmods are the people that dont know about real RC racing and buy them because they look cool? The owners are usually children that see horrible movies like "The Fast and the Furious" and since they arent old enough to drive the see Xmods at Radio Shack.

Also they are so damn small. Not to mention the applicable part selection is quite limited compared to the "real RC" world. You have to buy the crap from Radio Shack that is made in China or Taiwan. "Real RC's" have very enormous selection of parts that are actually quality. Most of my newest RC stuff is Sweedish, Swiss, Engish, and German. European RC companies (i.e. Schumacher Racing and HPI Racing) produce very high quality parts. The parts are made in a qualitative order instead of quanitative like Radio Shack. Radio Shack is out there for your money and produce low quality parts in exchange for mass production.

If you look at "real RC's" at your local hobby shop, look at how great of quality they are, not some piece of crap Xmod. The selection of upgrades in never ending, you can build a whole RC from just upgrades alone, and even when you think you have upgraded all that you can a new upgrade is released.

Also speed concerns, the fastest I have ever seen an Xmod go is about 20mph, if that. (Now I dont want you Xmod owners to come BSing about how your Xmod goes 21MPH.) My 1/10 Schumacher RC, with minimal electronic upgrades hits about 65+MPH with Xpatter radial tires. Have you ever gone to a "real RC" race? The cars that are sprinting around the track are approaching speeds around 70+ MPH, they would never let and Xmod in a race. If they did it couldnt keep up, it would be a derby car.

Conclusion, spend the extra money for much better "real RC". The author of this thread stated that us "real RC" drivers hate Xmods because we spend hundreds of dollars on "real RCs" and Xmods are cheaper. Xmods are cheaper because of the low quality, and mass production. I dont hate them because of the price (as it is, I think they are way overpriced), I hate them because they arent "real RCs" and because they are low quality Radio Shack crap. I have spent thousands of dollars on my RC stuff and I run my stuff really hard, without anything breaking. I can approach speeds of 70+ MPH. I can get quality parts. I can go to tracks without a problem. I can race against friends with excellent RC's and have a chance at winning. Best of all, I dont own pieces of crap.

---------------------------

This thread is not intended to start a flame war, but the author asked why we hate Xmods. I am stating my opinion, no content in this thread should be taken personally.

I wouldn't assume that If I were you. Most people on here dislike them because they are low quality, I agree. But I don't dislike them at all, in fact them one appeal that xmods have on me is that they don't leave a dent on my wallet. So I can do all the experimenting I want without worrying about ruining a big investment because xmods aren't a big investment, more of a hobby inside of a hobby to me.

But there are a few people on here who tend to make hating xmods an obsession it seems because they are "real" rc guys and assume having an xmod is for wannabes only , that makes me laugh. I have about 5 other cars. 2 mini-z's, an hpi nitro rs4, A yokomo drift rc with brushless conversion, and another yokomo gt4 nitro. Pretty soon i'll also have a $3000 nitro powered F1 from http://www.molzermoweryracing.com/ac...Formula_1.html

The point is, no matter what anyone says, do your thing, if it's xmods or the hobby grade stuff. And you should be able to do it and talk about it without any one else giving you shit about it. (hint hint)

Re: y people hate xmods

/\lol/\

-xmods are also ugly, the bodies look like crap compared to similiar ones like min-z's bodies, and the body kits make the cars look horrible, its just one more thing that is bringing up more and more rice.

Re: y people hate xmods

Don't forget that mini-Z's are quicker and lighter. Stupid plastic bodies which aren't lexan.

That was meant to coincide with this part: "So I can do all the experimenting I want without worrying about ruining a big investment because xmods aren't a big investment, more of a hobby inside of a hobby to me." Didn't mean to sound as though I contradicted myself. Besides, if you'd seen one of these F1 rc's in person, I don't think you'd question my reasoning. Plus, it's an RTR.

Why would you buy a 1:28 scale ELECTRIC R/C to experiment with, when in the end you'll end up with a $3000 NITRO R/C, when none of the parts will be remotely similar in construction, have differed mechanics, and even different sources of power? Sounds like your logic is flawed by the way you contradicted yourself.
