Question Game: Name that noise

I am stuck! Everytime I hit the brakes I get a ryhtmic squeek like the pads are done, but their not ( I checked )! When I add more pressure the squeek/squeel goes away and a knocking noise comes in. I Changed the rotors, axle shaft, and bled the brakes but no dice! I got 19's put on it about a year or two ago and have hit about three curbs head on since but all three times drove away, but I knew that was not going to be the end of it. So just recently i have noticed the right wheel sits way farther back than the left and rubbs a litttle on three point turns and such. That explained my alignment problem which caused it to pull to the right, and the reason was the back part of the bottom suspension arm bolt had made a slot instead of the hole in the k-frame from all those curbs i hit racing! The control arm would pop back and forth when accelerating and brake fast! So i simply reajusted the alignment and took the bolt connecting the control arm to the k-frame out and reinstalled it with three washers that fit exactly in the indent around the bolt which centered the bolt back into place. This fixed the problem for a while untill the washer theirselves started to bent after about a month of driving in DC! So plan to repeat the process with five washers this time and it should be ok, maybe! Never the less the right wheel still sits too far back due to the front of the k-frame that connects to the front part of the lower control arm still being a little bent, but it rides fine besides the bizar vibrating in the steering wheel at 75 mph ( it vibrates about every 20 feet then stops and begins again for about 20 feet ) and then the major vibration when trying to stop quick at 75 mph. It also has a slight knocking noise when i am just coasting at about 75 mph coming from the same wheel.I am not sure this is part of the problem but i thought it was important to know. But the knocking noise is what i am really worried about, because it is getting louder and easier to make, but it brakes fine for some reason evonthough that is what causes it! If i could get advice on all of these problems i would really apreciate it but any thoughts are better than none. Thanks, Swauve

Re: Game: Name that noise

Had the same problem with a mitsubishi eclipse. (Same car as sebring), It ended up being the upper strut mount, and a bent strut. pop the hood and have a look at the big nut on top of the strut while having somebody turn the wheels left and right, i'll bet the nut will not just turn it will have an angle to it like it's screwed onto a bent shaft, because it is! Please let me know if this is your problem. Would be interested to know if i'm correct. Hope it helps.
