Keyed... (56k beware)

So I go to my car after school today, and I notice my brother staring at my passenger side door right before he gets in the car so we can leave. He says it looks like someone has keyed the car. So naturally I jump out of my seat and run around the car to see what the hell he was talking about. Sure enough, a long ass, fairly deep scratch is imprinted into my door, right above the door handle . Immediately, I'm thinking "Who in the fuck would do this?", because I can think of NO ONE that I've pissed off lately at school. So now I'm thinking someone did it out of spite because I have a decent car that I take care of.

They obviously tried to do it unsuspiciously as they walked by my car because the scratch is only about 12" long. However, it gets so deep in one spot that I can actually see the metal (or whatever it is) shining through . Here are some pics... (I know the car is pretty dirty, but it has rained about 4 days nonstop here )

As you can see it's not EXTREMELY bad, but very noticeable and fucking stupid. I have 2 or 3 people in mind that would probably do something like this just to spite me, but I have no way of knowing for sure who it was. I THINK we have a few cameras in the parking lot, but I won't know for sure until tomorrow when I speak with the principal and school police officer about it.

Is there any way I can fix this without a new paint job or a new fucking door? Would touch-up paint work?

Finally, do you think it's really bad enough to go through the trouble of finding out who did it and getting them to pay for the damage?

Any help, comments, or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm trying to keep cool right now, but it's really tough not to just want to go out and beat the living shit out of someone.

-Matt

definately try and find out who it was. touchup paint might work but taking it to a bodyshop would be better it wont be cheap though.

really touch up paint is your only option for now, unless you go to a body shop. Someone will talk out loud eventually and then you can beat them down

dont do anything until you let the cops do a report.
you may want to talk to your insurance cumpany to about it and let them take pics or something to keep on file if you do find out who did it so they can make them pay for it.

yep, and i know exactly how you feel. I was at a party last year for about only 45 minutes and when i got woke up the next morning and it was light i saw that my car had been keyed all around, every section of car got it except the roof and expecially on the spoiler where it said FAG. It took a while but it will get back to you word of mouth who did it and when you do try to have someone that witnessed it or heard it first hand back you up. If not confront the person and make htem wnat to fight you like i did. And end it with them on their hands and knees in front of their house with blood dripping followed by a dropkick to their face. YEEAAA That is definately what they deserve for causing the need for a whole repaint and all the hassle and stress. So yea, good luck finding out who did it and when you do knock em out. PO

Happened to my friend at school. The school wont do anything about it because it was park at your own risk. Not just that but the insurance people wont give her the money until they get a copy of the report...which she forgot to make. Women...go figure.

Re: Keyed... (56k beware)

this is not only another reason why i regret getting a nice looking car. If i had a 1G DSM, it would be all about performance, and it doesnt look that incredible anyways, so ppl wouldnt bother ><...
The downside of having a nice car, is that there are a lot of jealous assholes out there...
