Yes Another Fuel question

95 GCC 8cyl. -When I hit the ignition switch, I don't hear the fuel pump kick on and ultimatley it wont start. I checked the relay and fuse-no problem. Is there anything else I should chek before going to spend $300 on a pump. Also as anyone put one of these on a 95 model? How difficult is it? It seems like it is one complete unit that sits inside of the tank.

option

I would recommend that you check the voltage at the connector at the fuel pump and verify that you're getting 12 volts. If you are then hook a fuel pressure gauge onto the port on a fuel rail and check it (not quite sure how this is done on a v8 tho). On a 6 cyl it's supposed to be around 42 lbs. I think (call dealer to see what it's supposed to be on yours). If it's low, then replace the filter and see if that restores the pressure. If it doesn't fix it, then you're probably looking at a new pump. I replaced the pump on my 93' 6cyl and it wasn't that bad. If you live in a humid climate you might have some rust on the straps that attach the tank to the underside of the body tho - I had to replace mine. Start the procedure with an empty tank so you don't have to drain it manually which is a pain in the ass. Good Luck
