Tranny Probs, Reverse but no foward.

Hi, I am new here. I have been looking around for some folks that could help me out a bit. I have a 95 1500 ram sport, v8 autotran. I am able to put it into revers fine. But when I put it into drive nothing happens, its like it stays in neutral. I listen to hear if there is any action down stairs but nothing. no grinding or movement comming from the tran. so it is like it is in park. I move the lever into all the foward gears and still nothing, Tryed acc it and nothing at all. Any ideas on why this may be? I checked the cabel and the gear mech that is attached to it and it works fine, I even took off the oil pan case to look int o the transfer case to see if when I moved the lever if there was any action, there was, the piston or pin or someting moved every time i move the lever. The engine off of course. so I tested the wires that go into the tran, there are 2 sets looks like . one has 2 brown wires and 1 black. Now that one had 12v in the black wire and 0v in the 2 brow wires with the key turned to on in the ignition. so I dont really know what to do next. anny ideas? Revers runs fine. but cant very well drive donw the highway in revers.

Electrical tests

Hi I posted last week........... I have since changed the filter... the at oil and put the atf 3 in.........but nothing.... I also ran some tests on the wiring. There are 2 sets of wires going into the transmission. one I presume to control the solonoid motors........ and one for the gear sensor. Now I did not test the gear sensor wireing..... but did test the solonoid motor wires....... I found that the middle wire has 12v of juice when the key is turned. The wire on each side has nothing. now... when I plug the connectr into the trans... i get juice in all three wires. Is this normal. shouldnt there be a ground somewhere. and why is it when i plug it in that i get power in all three. Thankyou.

Sounds like the tranny is fried. Just my humble opinion.

Transmission needs rebuilt. Also, check the bottom transmission line going to the radatoir. The bottom transmision line has a plastic check ball in it,the plastic checkball melts causing transmission problems. If you see that plastic checkball, drill it out and a spring will come out.You need a special tool to remove the bottom line.My father does that and no more transmission problems.
