I think everyone should get a grip on reality for a second and quite being so fucking politically correct. I still don't understand how Christmas is forcing beliefs on anyone. No one says you have to like them or believe in a God at all but let us that do have our holiday. People need to quite bitching so much in the world, thats one of the biggest problems.

Politcial Correctness = Complete Bullshit

No one even knows the true meaning of Christmas anymore, so what does it matter?

Its subliminal messaging. Santa and Jesus both have beards.

Re: Cuba is *WARNING* the U.S.

Ok, The U.S. gov is so f'd up when it comes to religion policy. Christmas is is officaly recognized by the Christian people as the birth-day of Jesus. Why now do we have this day as a national holiday? Is this stating that the U.S.'s offical religion is Christian? I think yes and no. Without the Christmas holiday Retail sales would plumit for the First quarter(or is it the second?). Commercial travel would be in the shitter. So in esance, Christmas is a holiday that is vital to our economy. Now does it just so happen that X-mas and Christianity fall together as a religious holiday? Afraid not anymore. I am 100% non-religious(don't believe in organized religion) and I celebrate Christmas. Now, we don't go to church, pray, etc... Christmas is just a time for my family to get together and have a good time. Christmas as a national holiday in the U.S is about the biggest fuckup in sep. of church and state. The only bigger fuckup when it comes to sep. of church and state is having to swear on a bible in a court of law. Ok, lets see if any of this makes any sense. Peace-

Re: Cuba is *WARNING* the U.S.

Obviously Christmas started out as a religious holiday, but with all of the commercialization these days, it has lost its meaning to a lot of people. And its the If-your-tree-doesnt-have-a-cross-on-top-your-going-to-hell-you-satan-worshipping-heathen people that are getting all uptight about the whole matter.

But like everything else these days, its about money and publicity. Ill bet 99% of the major lawsuits these days involve people who couldnt give a shit less about what they are suing about. Its pretty sad.

To politically correct tards: I celebrate Christmas. I like Christmas, I like Christmas trees and I even like Jesus. If you don't, then don't buy any presents, don't sing any songs and don't put up a freaking Christmas tree. But don't think you can ruin it for the rest of us because honestly your opinion really doesn't matter to me. [/rant]

I agree with above, I wouldn't have quite put in those words though lol. I don't go to church, but I do believe in A God and Goddess actually and I'm not going to go into the whole pagan/christian details or I'll write a novel. But I celebrate Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but also for the other meaning of Christmas time that was around long before Jesus ever was.

Now I dont' think they should pull Merry Christmas and stuff. Thats just retarded. Recently a city hall here in my state had some local citizens that were atheist and din't want a Christmas tree in their city hall. The judge threw it out saying that a Christmas tree isn't religious. I just couldn't believe that. Just because THEY are atheist means that a Christmas tree shouldn't be in public? BULLSHIT.

And again, I don't quite celebrate Christmas like many others. I don't put up Christmas lights, we don't have Santa all over our house, etc. I believe in celebrating it the way it should be. Having a Christmas tree, a few seasonal decorations, like pine cones and what not on the table, pine boughs, etc. Giving neighbors baked cookies for Christmas, etc. And just because I don't believe in shopping until I'v maxed out my credit cards and drained my bank account and I don't buy everyone the biggest and baddest present, doesn't mean I should go say no one else can do it. Thats just wrong.

Re: Cuba is *WARNING* the U.S.

+1 ^

It seems from the article that the Cubans took issue with the "75" which was used to refer to people jailed in Cuba last year. Couple of options:

1. They had the 75 up before Christmas decorations, in which case the Cubans are using Christmas as an excuse to bitch [as a matter of fact I recall hearing something about it before]

2. They put up the 75 along with the decorations.

Either way there are two cases:

1) If it's US soil then they can put up whatever they want to [as per Embassies]

2) If it's Cuban soil they should go ahead and comply.

Either way they've made their point, which was to get the 75 publicized and get the attention of the Cuban gov't.

.
