first car

ok im 15, and im looking to narrow down my opinions on a first car, since this is going to be my first car id want to take into consideration that even though ive had much driving experience, alot more than the majority of kids my age, i still havent driven on the road as much as a 30 year old or such, so theres a major possibility of me crashing this car, because of lack of experience. i would like to have a decently powered car, not a very fast one, but one that does 0 to 60 in around 7/8 seconds, do u have any recomendations, i have been looking at a 91-95 mr2 and i like it alot, but the mid engine design is not good for a first car im told, does anyone have any suggestions for a semi sporty first car, id like one with ample parts to add to id, please help...

The assumption of a midengine car being "bad" as a first car is correct. Working on it is generally more difficult/expensive, thus not something you need at a young age. They also behave very differently on the road compared to front wheel or front engine-rear drive cars.

I'd suggest:

Something Japanese, for their general reliability. Acura Integras have strong aftermarket, as do most hondas, and can be quick enough for your speed appetite.

The 240sx has a strong following. They're easy to learn on and have plenty of room to modify.

But if anything, the first car should be a reliable beater. Because 99% chance you'll crash it, scrape it, dent it and stain it.

My first car was a 91 ford probe gl. It was the ideal front drive beater. Despite it being my first car, I babied it with pride. After 2 years of experience, I got my mr2. I'm so glad I got the probe first now that I think back on it.
