944, over fueling
I have had a 944 in my shop for a couple of months doing welding, electrics, bodywork, and have had the seats and carpets out to do the welding! after a few weeks of driving it in and out of the shop, it ran out of fuel, so i put a few LTRS in it one morning and it started up first time and i driven it outside and parked it up. after finishing of my day, and was ready to pull the cars in, when i got to the 944 it started then ran like a bag of nails, putting loads of smoke out the back, and running on 2 cylinder and then nothing, it would cut out, and wouldn't start, so i would clean the plugs (plugs being soaking with fuel), and if i was lucky, it would start again(well half of it would). after changing the plugs, taking and cleaning the tank out and putting New clean fuel in it, i ran out of things to check! it was overfueling BIG TIME, plugs was soaking within minutes, thats if i got it started. After checking everything and swaping things of my own car, DME, FUEL METER, and so on, i sat in the car and their was a wire hanging down from the drivers side footwell, a wire i had been trying to avoid with my feet every time i got in the car to move it, only before, the wire had a relay on the end of it!, i looked around and there it was, sat behind a the carpet that was not yet in place. I pluged it in, STARTED her up and to my suprizzzzzzzzzzzze, she was running as good as ever with no smoke at all, all that was needed was an oil change(oil thin with fuel) and she's sorted. only thing i can think of is i must have pulled it off that morning i put it outside. DOH!
