1989 rpm stuck at 5000 rpm

rpm at 5000 and wont go down it has a carb help!!!!

no i have ajusted that and nuthing i have even tryed to mess with the carb and nuthing it now has a blown head gasket

Something in the carb is stuck/frozen open...or maybe the throttle cable is caught on something...but it sounds throttle/carb related.

so new carb should fix it? i hope not its a pain to work on this year to manny hoses any one want it 4 $800 lol (what i payed for it)

I'm assuming, not guarenteeing anything. From what you described, it sounds like something is stuck fairly wide open, causing the rpms to stick at 5k. Very few, if any, other things would cause this...to my knowledge...but that doesn't necessarily mean that a new carb will fix it. If you don't know what you are specifically looking for, I'd take it to someone who does, and get a 2nd opinion from someone who can physically look at the car.
