- 91 Accord RPM Spike/Shut Down -

hey guys...i got a 90 accord ex and the car shut off on me the other day. It wouldnt turn on right away but after about a minute it turned back on but once i put it into 1st and hit the gas it would shut down. So eventually I just let run for about 15mins idle and then i was able to drive
home. Two days later I had to drive it again and when I was on the highway going about 70mph i noticed the rpms spike up and down and the car felt like it was about to stall...then i released the gas and took it easy but then after like 2mins of that it drove fine......

...this all started happening after i replaced the radiator, fans, and hoses
b/c my car was overheating....


....pls if any can possible diagnose this....thx in advance

My wife had the same problem with her car, 1996 Honda Accord. It was the distributor that needed to be replaced.

I just replaced the whole distributor not just the cap like 5 months ago.

Does your car still run, well at least the engine? It could be a wiring problem. Let me know how it's coming along.

yeah its still runs and it was running fine until i replaced the radiator, the hoses, and fans. So im not sure but could it have something to do with the coolant like air in there or something?

but like I said it does run...but I was scared it was gonna stall on the highway and I have never seen the RPMS jump like that...I havent driven it in a couples days b/c Im scared to drive to work...cant afford car problems...at least not on the way to work you know
