Question Hay everyone, I need some help... Service vehicle soon and trac off lights on....

Hello,

Is the first time I come here and really good to have a place that talks about Aleros . Two weeks ago I had a Remote Starter installed on my car and since then weird since are happening.

First last week my car suddenly didnt start at all, tried to fire but will cut off after 1 second, finally I got my car towed and it result to be the ignition lock cylinder (first they thought it could be the remote starter but nope). Also in that same week it happened twice to me that the service vehicle soon and trac off will come on after few seconds of the car being on and if i would turn the car off and then on again they will go off. The dealer told me that it could be because of the lock cylinder. But this morning it happened again and soon after i turned it off and on again they went off. I have no clue what can be wrong now. Any ideas?????

Hope someone will be able to help me out. My car is only 45K miles and Im feeling is going to start giving me a lot of problems. Hope Im worng. It is great car!!!

Thanks

Lizzie

First of all, I don't mean to sound like an ass, but get that remote start thing removed, no matter what. If you look around automotivefourms.com you'll see that those stupid things cause more trouble than what they're worth. Second, the same exact thing happened to me when my wheel bearing went out, which is a common problem on the Alero's. I would take your car to a new dealer because if they can't figure that common issue out, then they're retarted, to be frank. Unfortunately, the entire hub assembly must be replaced because the bearing is not a seperate part.

Dude, settle down unfortunately, you do sound like an ass. It isn't always the remote starter or anything else aftermarket. You sound like some local dealers that won't cover a battery under warranty if you have tail light covers on just because they can't point to the real problem Many people have remote starters on their cars for years with trouble free use. If all remote starters were bad, no one would want them.

Now, it could be the install of the remote starter but I can't make that call since I can't see the car. I would first talk to the shop that installed the unit though. I need to know what brand of RS you had installed. Also, need to know if you were using the RS when you had these problems???? The no start condition is very common with GM vehicles with both the VATS and Passlock security systems. Too bad GM doesn't even know what to do about it. The service light sounds to me that you have a problem with the ignition switch or install of remote starter. Did you have it replaced?
