Emission Check

Hey everyone,

Looking for information to conduct an emission check. Even so the dealer must conduct a smoke test upon other directives, I was curious to find out if this can be checked by an individual? Is there a possible list of where to look for these certain things? The dealer advises me that there is a emissions leak in the system.

To sum up my question, can an emissions leak be corrected by an individual rather then the dealership and if so, where to look would be a start?

Thanks in advance for any help in this situation.

Re: Emission Check

depends on what codes you receive of you get a small, medium, lrg leak I would look at the evap hoses, espically near the service port.. this is located at the drive side near the valve cover it usually has a green cap the hoses usually crack. check under the vehicle the driver side around half way back. there is a black box (charcoal canister) check the lines for any cracks. if you get a purge system performance code then you need a eeld and a drb or scanner...good luck **also check you gas cap***
