tactical driving - mustang vs. cops

I came across this video in a self-defense forum that I’m a regular in. It’s a mustang trying to outrun the cops. They spin him out 3 times and he recovers. I hope the link works, and sorry if it's a repost.

http://media.ebaumsworld.com/mustangspin.wmv

Does anyone have any idea on how you could recover from an intentional spin out like he did? Does he slam on the brakes as they fishtailed him, shift her in neutral, and then pull up the emergency brake to get the nose turned?

Re: tactical driving - mustang vs. cops

It's done by doing this (try this at an empty road wide enough for mistakes) : - Put her in reverse. Reverse quick, floor it and let the revs go til about 6000rpm. You'll be travelling fast enough by then. Clutch in. Tilt the steering wheel a LITTLE left (if you wanna spin right) then fling it all the way right. While the vehicle has past 1/2 of it's 180 spin, counter steer and get your tires straight. This will allow the front end to drift as though the e-brakes applied on it in the front. The vehicle wouldnt just be making ridiculous circles. At past 3/4 of the 180 spin, counter steer further, not too much, depending on the situation, wet or dry. Might not need countering in some occassions. There you go people , your 180 reverse flip by yours truly. *Much easier than the 180 handbrake, and looks even nicer!

Mtang36- yes I figured it was something like that for the second half/last 180 (reverse to foward) what I’m talking about is the first half/180 (from foward to reverse) on the very first bump. Was it all brake? Right until the moment he started to go in reverse?

Re: tactical driving - mustang vs. cops

*checking video out again*.... oh... are you referring to the first spin where the cop bumps into his rear? If you are then, it's a tactical move practiced by traffic officers across the globe. In order to spin the car they're chasing down, they target an area just behind the rear wheel of the vehicle at its rear bumper. It was the momentum that did the rest. The driver of the stolen vehicle just spun it back. Hope that answers your question.

Re: tactical driving - mustang vs. cops

That guy is a serious driver. Police do that to all speeding vehicles. He's the only one I've seen so far actually come out of it...3 times. It's no luck. It's not Momentum. The guy is sick with it.
