Smile Low coolant light

Just want to tell everybody that I had the problem with the light coming on and off for 6 months but after flushing myself the system with Zerex radiator cleaner the light went of for good so I'm very happy now. I dont have the problem with the light anymore as well as the problem with the power door lock.
As always thank you all......

Re: Low coolant light

How do you drain the cooling system?

I have a 99 and what I thought was the radiator drain was a white plastic (or nylon) screw on the dirver's side of the rad. It is impossible to get my arms near enough to do anything. Besides it looks like the head can only be turned clockwise (tightening) but is made to slip counterclockwise.

Nest I though of the lower rad hose. I can not eeasily get to this either as there is a metal line (tranny cooler perhaps) rright in the way of where I would need to remove the clamp.

It has Dexcool that says it is good for 5 years or 240000 K (that is a lot of driving in 5 years) but I am not sure I believe that.

The radiator drain is plastic and is located on the driver's side at the botton, you might need to raise the car a little bit and then unscrew it manually ,it does not come totally out, just half turn if I remember well, I dit it a while ago... I added the radiator cleaner and then open the plastic drain (make sure you allow time to cool off) I did it on summer and it took me about 6 hours, put water and remove the antifreeze, then repeated the process about 6 times. I believe I removed about 75% of antifreeze. It's supossed to last 5 year but don't trust it, it can ruin your car.
Good luck...

Re: Low coolant light

Thanks................Which way does it turn? CW or CCW and what did you use to turn it? (hands only).

Thanks

Why did it take 6 hours? Does it drain that slowly?

Don't remember wich way to unscrew it (I think is clockwise, but I'm not sure). It took me about 6 hours because I drained it and waited an hour to add more water and drain it again, and did it like 6 times. I'm planning to do it every other year, so even if it took me a while it does not need it to be done very often.

I did not use any tool, just did it manually....
